In my first year of Graduation, i have studied this first historical novel, Tughlaq by Girish Karnad. It is very long novel to read but it gives us fruitful information about historical events. In this novel writer's main focus on only one character, Sultan Muhammad bin Tughlaq. The reading of novel deals with the personality of Tughlaq, and every time we found the new changes in his personality which is never found before.

  • About the Author: Girish Karnad

Girish Karnad was know as Indian English Writer. He was basically deal with the Kannada Literature. He was genius dramatist.

He put various themes into his works like, Mythical, Historical and folk theme. He also aware about the human nature and paradox of human nature, so we identify these features in his works.

    • Tughlaq:

The second play written by Girish Karnad, in 1964. It is originally written in Kannada language, later on translated into English language by himself. The novel based on the personality of  Sultan Muhammad bin Tughlaq. He was ruled over India in 14th century. The novel is in very controversy when it published. The main theme of the novel is complexity of the character. The character itself in a controversy, because he has two side of personality, Good as well as Bad.

He was also known as the man of action rather than man of thinker. In the starting of the novel we see that the complexity into the character,he has a hunger for knowledge. He also referred the knowledge of 'Quran', he was eager to learn something and curious for knowledge. He was also good player of chess. He was also a good reader of Greek, Farcical and Arabic literature.

We compared Tughlaq's character with Marlow's play, 'Dr. Faustus'. The similarity in both is that, both have lots of knowledge and though they want more. Even they both have quite same personality.  Dr. Faustus has also a tragic end, very similar into the story of Tughlaq he also reach at the tragic end.

Feminist reading of Hermione’s character in Harry Potter: How do the character portrayal of Hermione and other female characters support feminist discourse?
       1.
     https://www.bustle.com/articles /136244-the-5-least-feminist-moments-in-harry-potter

   2.

-Feminist icons in Harry Potter.
-Female who was not a pure-blood neglected most like Hermione.
-There were existence of Lavender Brown.
-Hermione’s character is not certainly not the archetype of a typical problematic female character.
-How many times did we as women feel the brunt of a relationship not working out (though in this case this was just imaginary)? If we break up we’re called
names like ‘cold hearted bitches’ or ‘sluts’, whereas if the man breaks up he’s either a ‘player’ or it’s our fault
for falling for the wrong kind of men! Here Rowling shows how a girl is always judged for her behavior whereas the boy remains above all sins.

-Here in this article we see that the character of Hermione, Molly, Ginny, Lavender Brown described as a point of view of the male characters. There were also a feminist reading of the character Hermione.
- In the movie no.4 there we found that the Ron insulted relationship between Hermione and Victor Krum.
-Even in the movie we see that the reporter named Reeta raises a question on the friendship between the Harry and Hermione.

The theme of choice and chance: How does Harry Potter Discusses the antithetical concepts of ‘choice’ and ‘chance’?

-Harry Potter and deathly Hallows the theme of choice.
- For the first time in the last part we see that Harry here becomes really adult. Because that is the time when no one can help Harry but he himself take a decision for the fate of world. Even Voldemort given Harry to chance to redemption but he refuses, so here we see his choice, whatever he want he choose without any hesitation.

4
The theme of love and death: How dose Harry Potter make use of age old theme of love and death as well as living as protecting armour? How does Harry Potter deal with the concept of Death as something inevitable

  • choice and chance in Harry Potter

    • In the movie we see that there were the  characters who have many Choice and chance in their life. The character are like Lily Potter, Harry, Hermione, Melfoy, Neville has some kind of choice in their life.

Lily Potter, Harry's mother has a choice to protect her child from the Voldemort or sacrifice herself for her son. It is the huge choice of her life to protect her son or not, but she saved Harry.

In the last part of the movie we see that Harry has a choice to redemption with his enemy or Fight against him. Harry at that time being helpless because no one can help him in this fight. He himself has a choice to fight or leave the fight. But he choose the option to fight with his enemy and also win into it.

Melfoy is other character who has also his own choice to be a part of death-eater. If he was not interest to being a part of it he refuses but with his choice he being a part of that.

Speculative Literature and Harry Potter:

  • What is Speculative Literature?

    • Speculative Literature is a genre in which the supernatural elements are used most. It is not limited one but into it there were also science fiction, fantasy, superhero fiction, science fantasy, horror, and supernatural fiction, as well as their combination.

      • Harry Potter as a Speculative Fiction:

Harry Potter novel by J.K.Rowling and into it we find that some elements related to horror and fantasy. In the all series we found that there were only the fantasy world, not real one. Magic was there and it is also a part of speculative Literature. Hermione well used magic rather than other two Harry and Ron. Entire series of Harry Potter based on the Horror, because the setting of the movie is night. The other horror elements are there were voldemort comes in the environment of Hogworts there were always we see darkness is there.

Harry Potter as a science fiction we can see into the class of potion. There were always we learn new thing about the magic. Hermione made some potion for her friends to disappear. Other we notice that only the professor of potion change every time not other one.

As we all know that it is a fantasy movie or novel not real one. In the movie we see that there are the things like broomsticks, wand, cloak, magical stone is a part of fantasy world. In reality there were not anything like that. The magical thing also banned in some religion also. Like in Christianity and Muslim culture it is bad thing to do.

when we talk about the supernatural elements into the Harry Potter is that Harry's perants appears in the movie so many times. Whenever Harry was in trouble there were some kind of magical power, who saved him. Harry always think that it was his perants who always with him, but it it his inner power or we can say his strength who saved him.
